KEEP TS2 FROM CRASHING

I promised this centuries ago, but I'm an unbelievably immoral ass.

Does TS2 frequently crash for you? Especially on community lots? Especially if you linger?
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, there is a method for stopping most crashes.

>>>Follow this link and do exactly as you're told.<<<

TheJessaChannel, whoever they are, has noticeably improved my life with this fix. Now maybe they can improve yours, too!

Since my game, with all sixteen components and many gigabytes of custom content installed , takes more than half an hour to load to the neighbourhood selection screen, this was kind of a major discovery.

In my experience, community lot problems come from the game taking way too much memory all at once. If you check Task Manager you'll see that it's being an unusually huge hog whenever it comes crashing down.

Since learning of the workaround, I've only gotten crashes that are my own stupid fault. The easiest way to crash the game is to, with the "moveobjects on" cheat, delete a Sim using their own inventory. That'll do it 100% of the time. If you want to kick a Sim off the lot by deleting them, do it with the Build or Buy tools!

And now you know.

Thank you for sharing!

Well I got as far as "make a backup of the .exe file" - can't find the damn thing, I don't have the same folders that person does I guess? I should text the Geek Squad guy, I still have him in my phone from 2011... lol. Nah, not ballsy enough to do that.

Maybe it's fate... my brother got me addicted to a PS4 game and now I'm buying my own PS4. Maybe my Sims will just live out the rest of their little Simlives without the interference of their maker... I can still play other neighborhoods, just not my overcrowded one. Maybe I can move more Sims out to the shopping district or downtown. Can there be more than one shopping district or downtown per 'hood, I wonder... then it would be easy, I could create a new fake one to clear out the main one... hmmmmmm.

I think I'll read one of your chapters while continuing to try starting my damn game (already restarted it several times now) and if I get to the end without success I'll give up on beating the dead horse and do something else.

The folders are wrong. The original fix was for TS3, but works on TS2. Find the .exe for your latest expansion - or Mansion and Garden if you have that instead.

What's the PS4 game?

I have to have the Business one in to play... but technically the Mansions & Gardens bit would be the last? I'll investigate. I have no patience for this shit though (can you tell?). It didn't give me too much grief last weekend. I think I had to restart it less than 10 times, not for hours and hours.

The Last of Us -- best game ever! I'll have to play it on easy mode without my brother around to bark orders at me :)

M&G is always the last. It's halfway between expansion and stuff pack. Not sure why you'd need OFB in to play. That's weird.

Some of the combo packs run off an AL engine so you can play with the combo-pack disc in rather than the actual latest expansion.

It's really fucked up and basically means you're running the Store Edition which has a million and one compatability problems. If you have any issues with mods etc, it's worth re-buying the base game and EPs included in your combo pack separately and doing a full reinstall.

The combo packs are so bad that I had an electronic version of University Sucks Stuff or whatever and it would insist on installing itself incorrectly the moment it finished downloading and then deleting its own install files. I bitched at EA tech support and got helpful gems like "run the install as an administrator" (despite the fact that it was auto-installing ITSELF) and "reformat your computer," which was pretty damn ballsy.

I recently got physical copies of all the ones I didn't have. Got all seventeen boxes lined up beside my computer. My new install is going to be pure as the driven snow.
